Fully Informed Jury [Judge telling jurors that he will interpret the law for them.]
BULLSHIT! Jurors have the right and duty to decide the law AND the facts. It’s called Juror’s right to nullification of the law. Confusingly abbreviated to “Jury Nullification.” That IS what is happening: Jurors are being nullified by judges. Visit fija.org to learn your rights and duties. On War This [Afghani] vest is my favorite garment. It’s a great conversation starter. People ask where I got it or where it’s from. It was in a sack of discards which were going to a recycler’s. It’s from the sixth poorest country, halfway around the world, land of my favorite flowers, Cannabis and the opium poppy. When they were invaded by one of the world’s Super-bullies, they fought back, at first with century-old, British bolt-action rifles, Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfields – S M L E s
The John Birch Society invited a rebel leader to speak. He told of booby traps designed to blow children’s hands off, and other atrocities. I mentioned Soldier of Fortune magazine’s Freedom Fighter Fund. Then I told them about a block a friend had told me about. On it were stamped the words Freedom for Afghanistan. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves and financially helped the cause, buying and smoking this excellent Afghani hashish.
Total silence. Finally he said “Hashish is a Communist plot to put everyone to sleep.” I don’t think so. Hashish was there long before the Communists and will be there long after they’ve gone.
The war escalated; they got AK-47s. They traded hash for Stingers. Hashish, one of the world’s best highs, for Stinger missiles, one of the world’s best buys. The Pentagon wastes money on some things, but at $40,000 with 80% kills, the Stinger is a bargain. It’s not a surface-to-air missile; it’s a ground to aircraft missile. Why shoot air? The war became the Soviets’ Viet Nam. The invaders fled. Religious fanatics persecuted the survivors. The rest of the world did nothing.
Then some of them attacked the world’s other Super-bully. If I’d worn the vest after 9-11 I might have been shot. They killed non-combatants. It’s not the first time it happened. How quickly we forget. And it won’t be the final time it happens. The Super-bully destroyed most of the rest of the country. “By night our bombs rain on them By day we drop them bread They should be grateful for the food Unless, of course, they’re dead. “Thanks, Calvin Trillin and The Nation.
[Shot of National Geographc cover. Yeah, that one.] Mona Lisa of our time is still alive! She’s a mother and can write her name. Religious fanatics would deny her anything more. [Picture burns, like photo of boy in intro of The World at War. Original music from The World at War and TAPS and ?].
“Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? “ [from Cops] [graphic of SWAT pigs approaching threateningly] “SHOOT THEM! SHOOT THEM!! Michael Moore and you mob of misguided mothers and everyone else who doesn’t get it: listen to people who wrote the rules we should live by.
Aristotle “Both Oligarch and Tyrant mistrust the people, and therefore deprive them of arms.”
Roman Senator Cicero: “If our lives are endangered by plots or violence or armed robbers or enemies, any and every method of protecting ourselves is morally right.” Henry St. George Tucker in Sir William Blackstone’s Commentaries on the Laws of England: “The right of self-defense is the first law of nature; in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Whenever standing armies are kept up, and when the right of the people to keep and bear arms, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction.”
George Washington: “A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government.”
Thomas Jefferson “No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.” “Let your gun be the constant companion of your walks.” Patrick Henry “The great object is that every man be armed.” Woman’s voice “Every Man?” His voice: “Every one.” Alexander Hamilton “Little more can reasonably be aimed at with respect to the people at large than to have them properly armed and equipped.” Tom Paine “…arms like laws discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe…Horrid mischief would ensue were the good deprived of the use of them.” Voice chanting “Rwanda Rwanda Rwanda.” “The victims had a choice: they could pay and be shot to death. If they couldn’t afford that, they were hacked to death.” Joe Stalin “God is on the side with the most battalions [and AK-47s and machetes]” Hubert H. Humphrey “The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard, against the tyranny which now appears remote in America [cynical laughter] but which historically has proven to be always possible.” “Right on!”
[more?]
Voiceover: “Nobody ever told me they said that!”
Second voice-over: “What else were you never told? And how many times and ways have the government [Capital building] and media and government monopoly schools [school building] lied to you? Question authority! Think for yourself!”
“This is a government model 1911A1, Colt .45 ACP. [checks to make sure it’s unloaded] God didn’t make all people equal; Samuel Colt and Smith and Wesson and Ruger and Browning and Glock and all the others did. An armed society is a polite society. Si vis pacem, parabellum but don’t overdo it. If you want peace, prepare for war, but don’t overdo it.
Thirty-five of our fifty states are Shall issue, Right-to-Carry, and the number is increasing. Guess what? More Guns, Less Crime. That’s a book, full of statistics, by Professor John Lott. .
“I try to imagine what it must be like to be a woman, to be in close proximity to the most dangerous animal on the planet. One word for you women, especially for beautiful women: CARRY! Paraphrasing Sir Arthur C. Clarke: A weapon is something you may never in your life need, but that’s just the point: if you ever need it, you’ll really need it. “So-called assault rifles weren’t a problem until Liberals and media started foaming at the mouth. Check the statistics. [Shot of me holding an AK-47.] I wouldn’t own an AK-47. They’re not accurate and have a short range and are idiotproof, for idiots. [I toss it down and pick up an FN-FAL.] This is a Fabrique Nationale Fusil Automatique Leger, standard weapon of over ninety nations. This is one of the world’s best Battle Rifles, and I’m worth it.
“Two hundred years ago, it was lock and load. Retract the flintlock and load the pan with powder. Now it’s load and lock. Load a round in the chamber and lock the safety on. Don’t forget to unlock it. And keep your finger off the trigger until you need it.
“Hey, you assholes in the NJ Legislature in one of about only fifteen states which deny us the Right to Carry, I’m not in New Jersey any more. New Jersey was the crossroads of the first American revolution. Now it’s far down the road to a police state. It’s one of the few states which prohibit citizens from owning and using responsibly the world’s best battle rifle.
“America was a nation of riflemen, not hose gunners. We have the right to full auto, but we don’t need it. Jeff Cooper said: Hope your enemies will be on full-auto..[Empties a 10 shot magazine rapidly into target one hundred yards away. Close-up of target.] That was semi-automatic – fast enough..We have the right to large capacity magazines also but we don’t need them either.
[Demonstrates quick change.] Yes, size matters. Performance matters more.” TheFriendlyStranger.com TheFriendlyStranger@hotmail.com
