BULLSHIT!  Jurors have the right and duty to decide the law AND the facts. It’s called Juror’s right to nullification of the law. Confusingly abbreviated to “Jury Nullification.”  That IS what is happening: Jurors are being nullified by judges. Visit fija.org to learn your rights and duties.

On War

           This [Afghani] vest is my favorite garment. It’s a great conversation starter. People ask where I got it or where it’s from. It was in a sack of discards which were going to a recycler’s. It’s from the sixth poorest country, halfway around the world, land of my favorite flowers, Cannabis and the opium poppy. When they were invaded by one of the world’s Super-bullies, they fought back, at first with century-old, British bolt-action rifles, Short, Magazine, Lee-Enfields – S  M  L  E  s 

The John Birch Society invited a rebel leader to speak. He told of booby traps designed to blow children’s hands off, and other atrocities. I mentioned Soldier of Fortune magazine’s Freedom Fighter Fund. Then I told them about a block a friend had told me about. On it were stamped the words Freedom for Afghanistan. My friends and I enjoyed ourselves and financially helped the cause, buying and smoking this excellent Afghani hashish.

Total silence. Finally he said “Hashish is a Communist plot to put everyone to sleep.” I don’t think so. Hashish was there long before the Communists and will be there long after they’ve gone.

The war escalated; they got AK-47s. They traded hash for Stingers. Hashish, one of the world’s best highs, for Stinger missiles, one of the world’s best buys. The Pentagon wastes money on some things, but at $40,000 with 80% kills, the Stinger is a bargain. It’s not a surface-to-air missile; it’s a ground to aircraft missile. Why shoot air? The war became the Soviets’ Viet Nam. The invaders fled. Religious fanatics persecuted the survivors. The rest of the world did nothing.

Then some of them attacked the world’s other Super-bully. If I’d worn the vest after 9-11 I might have been shot. They killed non-combatants. It’s not the first time it happened. How quickly we forget. And it won’t be the final time it happens.
